“There are not a lot of low-cost options for entertainment for families out there,” says Abraham Dover, the founder and producer of the festival, who also clowns himself. “And this is a free afternoon of professional-quality circus entertainment.”
Paying homage to the beloved Pickle Family Circus, which was founded in San Francisco in 1974, the Picklewater Free Circus Festival will feature the international award winning Pi the Physical Comedy Troupe, who have been entertaining international audiences for over 7 years, Circus Bella and the Circus Bella All Stars and a bevy of local and international professional circus artists, comedians, and Clown Conservatory Alumni.
With a cast of clowns and acrobats from all across the bay area and around the world, the Picklewater Free Circus Festival filled with brand new material from some of the bay areas favorite physical comedians and circus artists.
“San Francisco has many decades of circus history,” Dover says. “The new American circus movement was created here in San Francisco, and many of us trace our lineage to the Pickles and the San Francisco Circus Center. Some of the greatest circus performers in the world came out of San Francisco, and this festival celebrates that history.
